About the panellists:
Dr Natasha Cica is director of consultancy Kapacity.org. She is a former CEO of Heide Museum of Modern Art, and established the Inglis Clark Centre at the University of Tasmania. Natasha has been recognised by The Australian Financial Review as one of Australia’s 100 Women of Influence and was an inaugural Sidney Myer Creative Fellow.
Her Excellency Vicki Treadell CMG, MVO was appointed British High Commissioner to Australia in March 2019 and continues to advance and maintain the relationship between the UK and Australia. Mrs Treadell has held senior roles in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office since she began her Foreign Service career in 1979. Most recently, Mrs Treadell served as the British High Commissioner to Malaysia (2014 to 2019) and New Zealand (2010 to 2014) and Deputy High Commissioner to India (2006 to 2010). Professor Sally Wheeler OBE MRIA FAcSS FAAL is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International Strategy at the Australian National University. Professor Wheeler joined the university as the Dean of the ANU College of Law in early 2018, a role she continues to hold. Prior to this she was Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise at Queen’s University Belfast. Professor Wheeler became a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law in 2018.
Professor Frank Bongiorno AM is Professor of History at the Australian National University. He wrote The Sex Lives of Australians: A History and of The Eighties: The Decade that Transformed Australia, and is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and the Australian Academy of Humanities.
Hans van Leeuwen is The Australian Financial Review’s Europe correspondent. He previously worked as a senior political and policy adviser at the Australian High Commission in London from 2008 to 2018. Before moving to London, he worked variously as a journalist and political adviser in Sydney, Canberra and Hanoi.
