Live event Gold Coast – Joe Gorman at Dancing in the Dark, a Smallroom Reading Night

Smallroom Reading Collective presents Dancing in the Dark, the latest instalment of their infamous no holds barred reading nights where the best wordsmiths come out to play.

Writer Joe Gorman will read Looking for Johnny Burnaway, an online exclusive from Griffith Review 72: States of Mind in which Joe begins piecing together the fragments of a family puzzle to discover the story of his Uncle Johnny, a punk musician from Brisbane who lived hard and fast and who took his secrets to the grave.

When: 6:00 pm Friday 20 August.

Where: Griffith University Drama Theatre, Gold Coast.

Tickets: On the door. $5 entry fee includes dinner. There will be a cash bar.

Joe Gorman’s book, Heartland: How Rugby League Explains Queensland, won the 2020 Queensland Premier’s Award for a Work of State Significance. Joe will be in conversation with author Sally Breen.
