Carmel Bird has written many books of short fiction, essays and novels, as well as manuals for writers. She co-edited Griffith REVIEW 42: Once Upon A Time in Oz, and her essay ‘Dreaming the place’ provides an introduction to many of the themes and ideas explored in the rest of the edition. In this interview she speaks about ideas of myth, fairytales, and the stories we tell about ourselves.
