Carmel Bird has written many books of short fiction, essays and novels, as well as manuals for writers. She co-edited Griffith REVIEW 42: Once Upon A Time in Oz, and her essay ‘Dreaming the place’ provides an introduction to many of the themes and ideas explored in the rest of the edition.
