Ruth A Morgan was raised in the southern suburbs of Perth, and completed her doctoral studies at The University of Western Australia.

She now lives in Melbourne, where she lectures in history at Monash University.

Her first book, Running Out?: Water in Western Australia, was published by UWA Publishing in 2015.
