Madelaine Dickie spent a year living among the Sundanese people of West Java, Indonesia.

She was on a Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Award to finish her first novel, and conducted research at Universitas Padjadjaran and Universitas Islam Bandung.

She now lives in the Kimberley region of WA.
