Joanne Carroll was born in Sydney. She now divides her time between Australia and Ireland.

She has an M.Phil. in Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin.

Her first book, the two novellas In The Quietness of My Aunt’s House and Bad Blood was published by UQP in 1996. Her most recent book, The Italian Romance was published by UQP in 2005.
