Janette Turner Hospital

Janette Turner Hospital taught in Queensland high schools before her academic career in the USA. Since 1999, she has been Carolina Distinguished Professor at the University of South Carolina.

Hospital is currently a Visiting Professor at Columbia University in New York. An Adjunct Professor at UQ, she frequently returns to Brisbane.

Her eight novels and three short-story collections have been published in multiple foreign-language editions and she has won major literary awards in Australia, Canada, and America. Orpheus Lost, her most recent novel, was on Booklist’s Top 30 Novels of the Year in the USA.
