James Gering has received various awards for his stories and poems. His writing has appeared in many journals, including Meanjin, Cordite, Rattle and San Pedro River Review. His first collection of poetry, Staying Whole While Falling Apart, was released in 2021 and his second, Tickets to the Fall of Icarus, in 2023, both with IP, an independent publisher based in Queensland.
