Gavin Yuan Gao

YUAN GAU, Gavin

Gavin Yuan Gao is a poet living on Yuggera and Turrbal Country in Meanjin. They received their MFA in Poetry from the Michener Center for Writers. Their first collection of poetry, At the Altar of Touch (UQP, 2022), won the 2023 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry, the 2023 Victorian Premier’s Prize for Poetry and the 2024 John Bray Poetry Prize in the South Australian Literary Awards. In 2024, they were also the recipient of the Queensland Premier’s Young Publishers and Writers Award.
