Peter Hansen was born in Adelaide in 1956 and spent his childhood in England and Melbourne.

Finding university life not to his liking, he has spent a lifetime on the land working his way from jackaroo to station manager on properties from Queensland to Gippsland. He now lives in the Riverina and runs a property of over half a million acres.

Peter’s writing has been published in Overland, the Australian Literary Review and The Age. He also paints. His first volume of poetry, Shearing at Coonon, was published in August 2010 by Ginnindera press.
