John Langmore is a Professorial Fellow in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne.

He was the federal MP for Fraser for 12 years.

While Director of the Division for Social Policy and Development in the UN Secretariat from 1997 to 2002 he was responsible for organising the twenty-third special session of the UN General Assembly which was the first global conference to set the world poverty reduction target of halving serious poverty by 2015.

He is author of Dealing with America: the UN, the US and Australia (UNSWP, 2005).
