Dmetri Kakmi was born to Greek parents in Turkey. He is a writer and editor. His first book, Mother Land (Giramondo, 2008), was shortlisted for the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award and is published in England, Greece and Turkey. He edited the acclaimed children’s anthology When We Were Young (Penguin, 2007). His essays and short stories appear in anthologies and journals.
