Bill Manhire was New Zealand’s inaugural poet laureate.

His recent Selected Poems is published in New Zealand by Victoria University Press, and in the UK by Carcanet.

‘Erebus Voices’ was written for Sir Edmund Hillary to read at Scott Base, Antarctica, during a service commemorating the 257 passengers and crew who lost their lives on Flight TE901.
